X Present Campaign

Or maybe it means that the campaign isn’t absent, it’s present?
What? Oh, “present” doesn’t mean “現在” or “出席して”on this sign? It means the store is giving presents to their customers?
A native English speaker would be confused by this sign, because when stores in our countries give things to their customers, they don’t call them “presents”. They might be called “giveaways” or “premiums”.
But the advertising would probably say something like this:
O Buy one and you can get a free gift!
O Make a purchase and you get a complimentary towel!
I wonder what they were giving away?
Also, it doesn’t really seem like a “present” if you have to buy something to get it!

でも、英語としては確かに不可思議・・・

campaignに形容詞であるpresentがくっついているようでもあるし、、、
百 歩譲って「プレゼント」＋「キャンペーン」で複合名詞、と思ってみてもよく意味がわからない。campaignってお店側が売上を伸ばそうとする販売促進 活動のことで、プレゼントを提供することで売上を伸ばそうとすることなのでしょう。でも、多くの場合は、たとえば「3000円以上買うと○○がついてきま すよ～」というようなもの。何かを買わないといけないのであれば、英語としては present とは言えない。
「プレゼント」というと、何となく得をしたような気になる日本人用に作られた和製英語？
結局はすべて店側の販促活動に乗せられているんだ、、、と思わせる無理矢理のsignなのです。
ところで、無料で配られる景品のことを通常 presentとは言わない。（わかってもらえるとは思うけれど・・・）giveaway「ただで持ってけ～」というイメージか。。。街で配られているティッシュもgiveaway tissueです。
