I found this extremely funny — the Japanese and the English say opposite things. And the Japanese is right: this sign was hanging over the place to get out of the ticketed area of the station. I really have no idea what prompted JR to translate 「出口」 as “entrance”, but I think they need to check their dictionary again.
O Exit

んん…わざわざ英語で書いてくれたのに、なぜ「東南口」も翻訳してくれないのですか？「東南口」は英語で「tounanguchi」じゃないと思いますが…
それに、「sidewalk under the ground」とは間違いではないのですが、もっといい方法は、「under the ground」を形容詞にして、こう書きます：
O Shinjuku Southeast Exit Underground Sidewalk

こういうと、「出口は正しい側にあります」という意味になってしまいます。間違っている側じゃなきゃ良かったですね。
でも本当は、この「right」は「右」という意味だから、正しい英語はこうです：
O The exit is on the right.
O The exit is to the right.
X An exit here is CLOSE
「Close」（クロス）って、「近い」という意味でしょう？違うの？閉まっているっていう意味なの？「クロズ」？そうしたら「CLOSED」っていうでしょう？
X An exit here is CLOSED
…でもだめですね。どうしてかというと、「An」。一つの出口は閉まっているけど、他のは開いているっていう意味になってしまいますよ。
O The exit here is CLOSED

右側の出口って、色々あるの？そうじゃないでしょう？
